Thermal Shut-Off, Heat Actuated
Ball Valve by Essex
The Essex thermal actuated shut-off ball valve combines the operating characteristics of a manual operated ball valve with the added safety feature of automatic operation in the event of fire or other determined ambient temperature. The operation can be set to automatically open or close with the option of any position between, if required.
Thermal links may be furnished U.L. listed for 135°, 165°, 212°, 286°, 360°, and 500° F.
All links are Factory Mutual approved.
Applications include activating spinkler systems for fire control, or shutting off hazardous links in event of fire.
The Essex standard themal shut-off ball valve, THR0001CT, will operate withpressures in excess of 1000 psi at temperatures of -20° to 425° F (for upper limit 500° F thermal link must be used). Standard valves are furnished with 165° F thermal link.
Factory Mutual Approved rating is for flammable liquids nd 125 psi.

2" Valve with STandard Handle & Electro-Thermal Link, Actuator is Stainless Steel with 316 S.S. 150# flange. Heat or Electric will Actuate Valve to the Shut-off Position.
Standard Shut-off Valve is Furnished with 165° F Thermal Link. For other temperatures, Shut-off Valve Links are available at 135° F, 212° F, 360° F, & 500° F.
Unites can be supplied with "Fixed" Handles.
Fire-Safe Ball Valve Assemblies THERMAL Specifications
Thermal Fire-Safe Ball Valve Assemblies are Factory Mutual (FM) approved and combine the characteristics of a manual ball valve with the added safety of an automatic shut-off. Heat actuated, U.L. listed thermal links automatically
shut off or open the valve at predetermined temperatures. A unique, removable handle allows the valve to be manually operated without affecting the fusible links.
The thermal fire-safe ball valve assembly, ranging in size from 1/4" to 4", is available in a variety of metals, including stainless steel, carbon steel, monel, Inconel, hastelloy B & C, alloy 20, copper and brass.
All thermal links are U.L. listed and are available in the following temperatures:
- 165° F (74º C)
- 212° F (100º C)
- 286° F (141º C)
- 360° F (182º C)
- 500° F (260º C)
